Qigong & Daoist Retreat

September 24-26, 2010

This Qigong & Daoist Retreat will be held at the CYO Retreat Center in Occidental, CA .  It is only 15 minutes from Sebastopol.  The center is flexible and large enough to hold a sizable amount of participants, anywhere from 8 to 25.  It is actually a very good place for our qigong and Daoist practices of being in a redwood forest with plenty of open space for group practices.

The theme of Daoist zuowang and Not Two koan  meditation is the main practice throughout the retreat.  We will practice a variety of qigong forms, with a special emphasis on Bagua Circle Walking.  Our circle walking practices will cover such topics as walking with awareness, benefits of twisting movements, stillness in movement, stationary bagua postures, and more.  We will spend some time reading from the latest major work on qigong, Chinese Medical Qigong, and its modern definition of qigong:  Qigong is the skill of body-mind exercise that integrates body, breath, and mind adjustments into one.  Other readings during the retreat will focus more on the recitation of Daoist scriptures.

The retreat weekend will begin with a pre-retreat day (the 23rd) for members of the American Dragon Gate Lineage.

Silence will be observed during most practice periods, but silence will be optional during meals, or while relaxing in the swimming pool.

Participants will need to bring their own sleeping bags/blankets, sheets, pillows, towels, and toiletries.  Some linen sets are available for rent at $15 for the retreat. Flashlights are recommended to bring.

Cost: $200.  Deposit of $50 is required to hold your reservation, and full payment is due by August 24.  A separate cancellation policy and liability waiver form is required to sign upon registration.
